Our Wedding

Told from the perspective of Lizzie: I first met Landon at a powderpuff football tournament hosted at Grace Bible Church last October. I had just moved to Houston a few months earlier to begin a new teaching job and thought the game would be a fun way to meet people. Looking back, I can clearly see God’s sovereignty (and humor!) written all over our meeting. I almost didn’t go because I had tickets to the UT vs. Georgia football game in Austin, but something in me knew I needed to show up that day.Landon happened to be my coach, and we chatted for about fifteen minutes. He dressed the part -- a visor, clipboard, mustache, and a 90's themed outfit. I left thinking, “That guy was amazing. But he’ll never ask me out...I am too young.” Little did I know!Over the next few weeks, we ran into each other a few more times and exchanged quick conversations. Then, at an Election Day watch party hosted by Hannah and Paul Rush, we hit it off! I showed up in an oversized t-shirt with dirty hair and fresh baked cookies. Landon jumped off the couch and greeted me at the door which I thought was odd since we did not know each other very well. We ended up talking for more than three hours, and from that point on, I knew there was something different about him. A week later, he called and asked me out, and we had our first date at Tiny Boxwoods. I was immediately struck by his maturity, his evident love for Christ, and how effortless our conversation was.As we dated, it quickly became clear that we wanted to spend our lives together. Looking back, we’re so encouraged by how faithfully the Lord has guided every step of our story. As we step into this covenant of marriage, our prayer is that God would be glorified through our lives together and that others would come to know and experience the deep love of Christ.To God be the glory — we’re counting down the days until forever!
